What is the Moeller Technique?

This amazing moeller stroke was created by a man named Sanford A. Moeller. It is believed that he learned the method by observing Civil War drummers in the 1800s. He later taught the system to Jim Chapin - who went on to make the method famous.

Essentially, the moeller technique combines a variety of methods that allow for improved hand speed, power, and control - while offering the flexibility to add accented notes at will. Better still, it takes significantly less effort, and has less risk of injury when compared to virtually any other method!

Who is Mike Michalkow?

Mike is a rising star in the drum community, and deservedly so. He has been performing, recording, and teaching drums for over 17 years. He has studied under some of the greatest drummers of our time, including: Jim Chapin, John Fisher, Peter Magadini, Chuck Silverman, Virgil Donati and Dom Famularo.

Mike's passion for drums and percussion has earned him a name in the business and his summers consist of heading the drum department in the U.S. for the "National Guitar Workshop", While at home in Canada he performs with the Sabir Sisters, The Town Pants, Tamburarasa, Symphony in Demeanor and various other projects. Symphony in Demeanors first album released in the fall of 2005 won “Best Album Award” for the IOMA Online music awards with over 15,000 votes on hand. He has also performed at the "Vancouver International Drum Festival" in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005 by invitation of Yamaha Drums. He currently plays and endorses Yamaha Drums, Sabian cymbals, Vic Firth drum sticks and Hansenfutz practice pedals.
